No Class Tonight!

We will not be having YCOA cheerleading at Power Ranch tonight because of spring break. This will not count as an absence! We will resume class the following week (March 25) at the regular times. HELP OUT YOUR PRO ALL STARS!!

Our Pro All Stars worked really hard this last semester and are going to nationals in July! To help them out with the cost, we will have a "Nickels for Nationals... pennies, dimes, and quarters too!" jar out at class. It may not seem like much but bring your loose change and throw it in! Every little bit helps!

Nationals Update!

This was in an email I received from the office- hope it helps!

Nationals will be held at The Family Arena in St. Charles (in St. Louis suburb of) on Saturday, July 26th.

I am booking hotel rooms for all the coaches at the Embassy Suites - close but not within walking distance - to the arena.

TEAMS are responsible to raise funds for the trip - coaches are not to be organizing any of these fundraiser events or collect the monies however, you can support your team on their fundraising efforts and coordinate that everyone is pitching in.

Students should begin to get their airline tickets and hotel rooms (if you as a coach are not controlling the hotel rooms for everyone). Please communicate with your parents and students that YCOA does not plan the trip for them - and the team is not necessarily flying together etc. each student should be getting tickets themselves to and from Nationals.

The phone number for the hotel I will be staying at (Embassy Suites) is 480-857-9475.

Remember: I want girls there Friday afternoon (hopefully) at the latest but Thursday night would be less stressful and reduce my blood pressure! :)

We need to look into:
-fundraising (places for car washes)
-hotels
-flights

Please help me out on this stuff because I am super busy!

CANCELLATION- 2/5/08

Practice will be cancelled because of an event at the school this coming Tuesday, February 5th. We will resume class the following week on the 12th at your regular class time.

Since this week was supposed to be the last week to bring a friend to register, we will extend that until the 12th so bring people to register that night!!

Prepay people- we know you payed for the class that we will be missing. What we will do is credit that class fee towards your tryout fee, which is normally $10. So, $6 class people who are prepay will only owe $4 on tryout day. $7 class people who are prepay will only owe $3. Any questions can be emailed to me!

Again, I'm sorry about the inconvenience! I wish we were having practice!!! I can't wait to see everyone on the 12th to get started on our dances!

Bring friends to register during week 2 and week 3! The more the merrier! Just ask for an ambassador form to fill out at the check in table.

Nationals Update!!!

I have received an email from YCOA. I know we all want information about nationals but since we qualify 3 months before the squads that "host" it, not all the information we want is available. Still, send me your emails with questions and I will get them answered ASAP as we are planning a meeting for the coaches. Please, do not call the office because they are sending the information through me as soon as they get it. They did say that we could begin fundraising however so send me your ideas now and I will get started on that! Again, congratulations and I'm so excited!

Class Times!!!

Here are your official class times! If you are not sure what squad your daughter is on, feel free to email me at ycoacheercoach@yahoo.com and I can let you know! I have included the ages, but some exceptions were made for individual situations that called for it.

Junior Varsity (JV)- ages 4-6- 6:15-7:00
Varsity- ages 7-8- 7:00-7:45
Jr. All Star- beginning ages 9 and up- 7:00-8:05
Pro All Star- advanced ages 9 and up- 8:05-9:05

Check In Procedure

1. Walk your child into class- never just send them in alone! Please arrive ten minutes before your class time!
2. Go up to the check-in table and area that is designated for your last name.
3. Tell them your last name and give them your pre-paid slip or weekly payment.
- JV and Varsity classes are $6 per student per week and Jr. and Pro All Stars are $7 per student per week
- Please only pay with the correct amount! WE DO NOT HAVE CHANGE!!!! Sorry! Also, you are only permitted to pay your weekly amount or a multiple of that. For example, $6 class can pay $6, $12, $18, or $24- $7 class would be $7, $14, $21, or $28. Please, only pay for up to a month (4 weeks of class).
4. Sign your child's name on the sign in sheet along with the amount paid or P for pre-paid.
5. Take your child to the holding area.

Please, before you come for check in, take your child to the bathroom and get them some water for practice. Please do not do this once your child is signed in without letting someone know! At that time, we have a head count and expect your child there!

Congratulations to All Stars

At the state competition on January 19, 2008, we had a great time with our junior all stars and pro all stars.

Our junior all stars worked really hard and did a great job! I am really proud of them!

Our pro all stars got second place and received a bid to nationals! Yay! So exciting!!!!

Nationals are July 26, 2008 in St. Louis. I will be posting information here so check back and CONGRATULATIONS!!

Hello everyone! Here is a little info about me, just in case you are curious! :o)

I'm from Cleveland and came to Arizona to go to school at ASU. I'm majoring in special education and hope to teach children with autism. I graduate in May and am very excited to be done!!!!

I have been a cheerleader since I was 4 and cheered on squads in middle school and high school. I was the captain of 4 different squads throughout high school. I really love to cheer- we work hard and have fun but it is all about cheer- and I hope to pass my love of the sport onto the girls I coach!

I have some expectations for the class so here we go:

Try your best! I don't expect perfection but I do want 110% effort!
COME TO PRACTICE!!!! These are our teams and a team must work together to achieve their goals- we all have to be there to be the best we can be!
REMEMBER: This is cheerleading!!! Cheerleading isn't for everyone and that's OK but if you are here, you are a cheerleader and should work to better yourself and your team in this sport.
Respect me, the other people on your team, and yourself (don't say you can't do something- ask me how you could do it better- I love cheer-questions!).
HAVE FUN!!!! Cheering is fun! Enjoy it!
